SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine - Today, Jeff Kane, member of the Gaziano Awards board of directors and Frank J. Gaziano's son-in-law, issued a statement on behalf of the Gaziano Awards about the recent sexual assault allegations against 2015 Gaziano Award runner-up Tyrell Gullatt.
"These are very serious allegations against Tyrell Gullatt. Out of respect for him and the legal process, we will wait to make any further comments."

As a runner-up, Gullatt was the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship at the Frank J. Gaziano Memorial Offensive and Defensive Lineman Awards last month at the Augusta Civic Center.
The scholarship and awards program for Maine senior high school football linemen was created in memory of Frank J. Gaziano, founder of National Distributors and a former college All-American and professional football player with a lifelong passion for local sports. During the six years of the Gaziano Awards, $68,000 has been awarded by National Distributors to Maine students.
